Bogle will not seek re-election as Cambridge mayor

Eight is enough for Mayor Carman Bogle, who announced at the Cambridge Village Trustees meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 7, that she will not throw her hat into the ring for a fifth term.

The mayor said while she loves the job, she feels it is important for local government to have fresh faces, new ideas and insight. The mayor said she is open to speaking to anyone who might be interested in the job to help one understand what the duties and demands are.

Village elections will take place on Tuesday, March 21. Beside the Mayor’s position, two seats on the board of trustees are also up. Those interested can pick up nominating petitions at the Village Hall.

Jan. 3 is the first day they can be circulated and must be filed with the Village Clerk between Feb. 7 and 14.

In New York, village seats are all considered to be independent and not affiliated with any political party.
