Stefanik retains House leadership position

Area Congresswoman Elise Stefanik has been re-elected to the post of House Republican Conference Chairwoman, a post considered to be the third highest ranking position in the party.

Following the Tuesday, Nov. 15 vote, Representative Stefanik released a statement that said in part: “I will continue to work to keep our message disciplined, unified and on offense every single day, support our agenda and execute an effective rapid response strategy to push back on the biased mainstream media in real-time.”

She added: “In the new Republican majority, we will stand up for an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future that is built on freedom and a government that is accountable to the American people.

Stefanik won re-election to a fifth term in the House on Nov. 8, defeating Democratic challenger Matt Castelli.

Her district includes Washington County.
