Harrington’s goal wins for Hartford, 2-1

A late goal by Ray Harrington proved to be the game-winner as Hartford boys soccer opened the season with a 2-1 victory over Salem-Cambridge on its home pitch.

Harrington’s goal came with 4:05 remaining when he collected a loose ball after a Cody Baker shot deflected and deposited it in the back of the net.

Nate Fiske scored early in the contest to give the Tanagers a 1-0 lead.

Ryan Stevens equalized for Salem-Cambridge to set up Harrington’s heroics.

Drake Stewart had a huge defensive play for Hartford, sweeping a potential game-tying goal off the goal line.

Austin Wells had five saves for the Tanagers. Carter Hamilton had seven stops for Salem-Cambridge.

Hartford was 1-0 after the win. Salem-Cambridge fell 0-1.

Hartford was not as fortunate on Friday as they dropped a 3-1 decision at Bolton-Warrensburg in Adirondack League play.

Things looked good for the Tanagers early as Michael Jones scored in the 36th minute to make it 1-0.

Dante Corriveau equalized for Bolton-Warrensburg late in the half to make it 1-1 at the intermission.

AJ Moore gave Bolton-Warrensburg their first lead of the contest on a free kick in the 48th minute.

Corriveau scored his second goal of the afternoon to clinch it for Bolton-Warrensburg later in the half.

Keith Sonley recorded four saves for Bolton-Warrensburg.

Bolton-Warrensburg is 2-0, 4-0. Hartford is now 1-1.


Hartford edges Fort Edward in volleyball

Hartford began its Adirondack League campaign with a 3-1 win over Fort Edward in high school volleyball last Thursday. The Tanagers lost the first set but narrowly won the next three in a close battle.

Set scores were 22-25, 25-22, 25-21 and 25-18.

Addison Potts and Ava Nadeau had six digs each for Hartford.

Cassandra Wade had 20 assists for Hartford.

For Fort Edward, Haley Saunders had 14 service points, 12 digs, six aces and two blocks.

Natalie Durkee and Lynelle Colvin added four kills apiece. Durkee also had 16 assists, 11 points and two aces. Colvin chipped in 13 digs and five points.

Hartford is 1-0, 1-1. Fort Edward is 0-1.

On Friday night, Hartford traveled to Corinth and were swept by the Tomahawks 3-0. Set scores were 25-23, 25-22 and 25-17.

Samantha Petteys had 11 points, two kills and three assists for Corinth. Vivian Mills added two aces, six points and two kills. Desiree Allen contributed 10 points, four assists, three aces and three kills.

Raeghan Liebig had six kills for the Tanagers. Cassandra Wade chipped in 15 assists and Olivia Lindridge six kills.

Corinth is 2-0. Hartford drops to 1-1, 1-2.
