On Sept. 2, New York State Police of Granville arrested Wendy L. Murphy, 54, of Granville for 31 counts of New York Agriculture and Market Law overdriving, torturing, and injuring animals, according to a press release from the New York State Police.
On Sept. 2, troopers executed a search warrant on Murphy’s property with the assistance of the Washington County Animal Control and the SPCA of Upstate New York. Thirty-one horses were found on the property. All appeared to be deprived of necessary sustenance, suffering from neglect and have been removed from the property.
Murphy was arrested and processed at State Police barracks in Granville. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Granville Town Court on Monday, Sept. 5. Additional charges are anticipated.
