Gibbs, Pratt compete in track event

A pair of Granville track and field athletes competed at the Section II State Qualifier meet last Thursday and Friday at Shenendehowa High School. Amber Gibbs and Tim Pratt represented the Golden Horde at the event.

Gibbs competed in the 3,000-meter run and finished in seventh. Gibbs recorded a time of 11:25.70 in Division II.

Pratt placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. Pratt’s time in the final was 16:80.

Locally, Greenwich’s Nina Sgambelluri was the winner of the girls Division II 1500 in 4:37.03. Sgambelluri also placed first in the 3000 with a time of 9:56.09.

Kiersten Alling of the Witches took second in the girls Division II shot put with a throw of 35 feet, 4 inches. Alling was also third in the discus with a toss of 110 feet, 4 inches.

Keegan Collins of Greenwich was third in the girls Division II shot put with a throw of 35-3 ½.

The Greenwich team of Sarah Radovich, Molly Abate, Tayler Christaldi and Catherine Abate placed second in the girls Division II 4-by-100 relay.

On the boys side, Deonte Bennett of Greenwich was third in the Division II long jump with a leap of 20-07.50. Bennett was also fourth in the high jump with a score of 5-08.00.
