Jeremiah “Jerry” Johnathan David, 51, born on July 20, 1970, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Jerry was an incredible husband, father, son, brother, uncle and a friend to many. If you were blessed to have known him, you would know what a kind genuine person he was. He was dedicated to the ones he loved and left no doubt in the minds of those he called his own. Jerry also was a very hard worker and rarely missed a day of work. In fact, he was employed most of his life for the same slate company, Newmont Slate, since he was 16 years old.
Jerry was a very generous man who never expected anything in return. He often would go out of his way to help others, always stopping to help a stranded car, buying friends’ coffee without telling them and heading out on his way, helping neighborhood kids learn how to drive and the list goes on and on . . .
Jerry had an adventurous spirit and lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed long car rides while going to lawn sales with his wife. When he wasn’t lawn saling, he liked to trail ride with family and friends. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Hunting was one of his passions. In falls past, he spent most of his free time in the woods surrounded by nature and the people he loved and cherished.
If you were lucky enough to be graced with his presence, you would find yourself continuously laughing and smiling. Jerry had a way of making people feel like they had known him a lifetime with his kind nature. He was known by his family as being “the town mayor” because he would stop and talk to everyone. Jerry’s legacy will live on through his daughters.
Jerry was blessed to have found his soulmate in his wife. They shared a love story that everyone wants and few ever receive. They were always together. They enjoyed laughing together and bantering back and forth.
Jerry was predeceased by his best friend and brother Leonard “Ralph” David Jr.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Rosa David; his parents Sally and Leonard David Sr.; his daughters Adriana Finley (Kris Finley) and Taylor David (Samantha David); his stepson Matthew Witherbee (Jamie Frasier); his grandchildren Addison and Kaydence Finley, Brianna and Preston Witherbee and Hayley Frasier; his sisters Betty and Marleen David; his best friend Ashley Monroe; his nephew who was like a son Johnathon David; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Per Jerry’s request, there will be no formal services. Instead, there will be a celebration of life at a later date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Jerry’s name.
