Whitehall wrestlers top S. Glens Falls

Whitehall’s wrestlers will head into the holidays on a winning note after they defeated South Glens Falls 49-24 in a non-league contest.

Whitehall took advantage of six wins by fall to earn the victory. Ollie West at 132, Jake Huntington at 145, Ayden Smith at 152, Sawyer Ostrander at 160, Noah Desantis at 285 and Allen Beaulieu at 118 all pinned their opponents for the Railroaders.

West pinned Julien Dickens in1:41. Jake Huntington took 2:44 to take care of the Bulldogs’ Victor Hyland. Smith took out Zachary Stockwell in 3:17. Ostrander pinned Benjamin Blake in just :34. Desantis finished off Carter Schwab by fall in :54. Beauleiu pinned Wyatt Younger in :15.

Jacobie Hunt at 172 and Colbi Walker at 215 earned victories by pin for the Bulldogs.

At 189 Troy Austin decisioned Josh Ahrens 6-5.

Matt Ingerson decisioned Dylan Keech 14-2.

Kyle Lavin picked up a forfeit win for Whitehall at 138.

Whitehall is now 1-3.

Whitehall rallies to beat Hartford, 58-51

For three quarters things were not looking good for the Whitehall boys basketball team last Tuesday, then that all changed in the final stanza. The Railroaders used a strong fourth-quarter performance and a solid game from Cash Burgey to rally from a six-point deficit and edge Hartford 58-51 in an Adirondack League contest.

Hartford took a 15-11 lead in the first quarter and the Railroaders outscored the Tanagers 17-16 in the second to make it 31-28 at the half.

Hartford used a 14-11 third quarter spurt to open up the lead slightly at 45-39 and seemed to be in pretty good shape.

Whitehall responded with perhaps its strongest quarter of the season, dominating the final frame, using a 19-6 advantage to come from behind and earn the victory.

Burgey led Whitehall with a game-high 27 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Jake Whiting added seven, with Brandon Bakerian and Tyler Brooks contributing five points each.

Ray Harrington poured in 23 points including 15 from behind the arc for Hartford. Logan Reynolds added 10.

Whitehall will host Crown Point Dec. 27.

Hartford plays at Greenwich on Dec. 28.

Whitehall improved to 2-2, 2-2. Hartford is 2-3, 4-4.
