Former Whitehall standout wrestler Spencer Dickinson continues to shine in his first season at the college level. Dickinson had a successful weekend on the mat for Western New England wrestling.

Dickinson battled his way to a 6th place finish on Saturday in the 285 class at the Doug Parker Tournament in Springfield, Massachusetts, hosted by Springfield College.

Dickinson opened the tournament with a 3-1 decision over Brian Morel of Coast Guard, then dropped a 3-2 decision to Travis Manick of Rhode Island College. The loss to Manick sent Dickinson to the consolation bracket.

Dickinson then defeated Tyson Jones of Springfield 3-2 and pinned Roark Ryan of Southern Maine in 2:05 to reach the 5th place match.

The freshman then lost to Tommy Goodwin of Williams College via fall to finish 6th in the heavyweight division.

The Golden Bears finished 3rd in the tournament as a team with five wrestlers placing in the top six.
