Granville Police Department

Oct. 29

9 p.m. Police were dispatched to The Gold Trout on West Main Street for a criminal mischief complaint. Upon arrival, the responding officer spoke with the owner of the business, a woman, who said someone had ripped down the peace flag that was hanging off her building from a flagpole. The woman told the officer she had a similar incident a while back where the flagpole was partially ripped off the building. The responding officer advised the business owner that Granville Police would document the incident and advise patrols of the incident.

Oct. 30

11:04 a.m. Cassandra L. Birkheimer, 24, of Manchester, Vermont, was ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, a misdemeanor, and a registration plate display violation when Birkheimer was stopped on Morrison Avenue. Birkheimer was driving a vehicle without a front license plate, which she said was at home, and with a suspended Vermont license with an active New York suspension.

5:47 p.m. Police were dispatched to a Prospect Street home for a reported domestic with an individual bleeding from the mouth. Upon arrival, the responding officer met with a 30-year-old Pacific Street man who said a 39-year-old Lawrence Street man had left the residence and everything was fine now. The officer advised dispatch to downgrade the additional unit but to continue. After advising dispatch, a man and a woman came to the back of the residence where they had left their children for the night at a 60-year-old woman’s Prospect Street home, but the woman’s 10-year-old son, of Poultney, Vermont, called her crying, so she called 911. The officer observed all children, a 14-year-old Lawrence Street girl, the 10-year-old Poultney boy, a 10-year-old Lawrence Street boy, an 8-year-old Poultney girl and a 6-year-old Pacific Street girl, to be fine. The 39-year-old Lawrence Street man came back inside to speak with the officer and said he and the 30-year-old Pacific Street man had an argument, but that was all. The 60-year-old Prospect Street woman said she did not want the 39-year-old man and his children staying at her residence as planned due to the argument stemming from the 10-year-old Lawrence Street boy’s attitude toward her. No charges were pressed and a domestic report was completed with copies given to the 60-year-old woman.

Oct. 31

1:45 a.m. Police patrolled to Morrison Avenue where EMS was being dispatched for a 22-year-old Pacific Street man who had been assaulted. Upon arrival at Morrison Avenue, the 22-year-old man said he was jumped by two or three unknown individuals in Whitehall near Putorti’s. The officer observed abrasions on the man’s face, arms and legs. The man was complaining of rib/chest pain on breathing. The 22-year-old was evaluated by EMS and informed of how to report the incident to Whitehall Police, who were made aware of the incident, if the 22-year-old wished to do so.

Nov. 1

9 p.m. Police were dispatched to a Quaker Street apartment for reports of a verbal domestic. Upon arrival, police made contact with a 37-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man who both said they had a verbal disagreement in regard to the woman having lost an expensive piece of jewelry. Both parties said the disagreement was only verbal, with both parties being spoken to individually to confirm. The man and woman agreed to have space from each other for the night and did not feel there would be further issues, with both not wishing to participate in completing a domestic incident report.

Nov. 3

3 p.m. A patrolling officer was contacted to respond to an East Main Street residence for reports of a missing 99-year-old woman. The 99-year-old woman’s sister told the officer she had tried to call the 99-year-old woman multiple times with no answer and was concerned for her welfare. Upon arrival to the residence, the officer spoke with a neighbor, a woman, who said the 99-year-old woman was nowhere to be found. The officer searched the house with no results and was informed by the neighbor that another woman said the 99-year-old woman may have been at a doctor’s appointment but was unsure. The responding officer contacted the 99-year-old woman’s doctor’s office and confirmed the missing woman was at the office and in good health.

Whitehall Police Department

Oct. 28

8 p.m. A responding officer took a call from the station from a man who advised that sometime overnight on Oct. 28 to the morning of Oct. 29, an unknown person stole a 24-foot extension ladder from the man’s work truck. The man did not provide any more information and did not want to file a larceny statement or have the officer do anything further with the case.

Oct. 30

3 p.m. A responding officer was made aware of a subject using a metal detector in Skenesborough Park and digging up the lawn. The officer went to the park and located a 41-year-old man who was using the metal detector, who said he was unaware he couldn’t be metal detecting in the park. The officer advised him to speak with the mayor and get written permission. The man had fixed the holes that he had dug as he was metal detecting so there was no damage to the park. He said he would seek permission.

Oct. 31

4:50 a.m. While on patrol, an officer was advised of a personal injury rollover motor vehicle accident at Buckley Road and U.S. Route 4. The sheriff’s department was in Belcher at the time and State Police were handling another call. The officer advised dispatch he was available to respond because he was closer. Deputy Murray advised dispatch to have Whitehall police respond. The officer responded to the area and observed a vehicle well off the roadway on its side. The driver was located in the caller’s vehicle with an apparent face laceration and was vomiting blood. Skenesborough EMS arrived on the scene a minute after the responding officer took over. The scene was turned over to Deputy Murray upon his arrival.

6:15 p.m. Patrols responded to the parking lot on Broadway Avenue for a man and woman arguing over a vehicle. Upon interviewing the two, the 37-year-old woman said she was attempting to get a vehicle back for which she had paid the 56-year-old man. The man has ownership of the vehicle as it is licensed in his name as well as the title. At the time of the call, no one could produce a title or the vehicle and the woman claimed only that she had bought the car and that’s it. The man was advised the car would not be leaving with her as she could not provide any documentation that it was hers.

Nov. 11

7:30 a.m. A 19-year-old woman requested a responding officer to 63 Champlain Ave. for assistance gaining access to the dwelling. The woman stated that she has been living there for two months and her roommates have locked her out. When the officer arrived and knocked on the door, a 20-year-old man answered and said the woman knows the times when the door is locked and she needed to be there before it was locked. He stated that he was not letting her back in. The officer told the man that he could possibly be arrested for illegal eviction and asked the woman to go back to the Police Department with him so they could figure out the situation. The man stated that she could come in again, and he let her in.

Oct. 31

11:38 p.m. Stephen L. Fortin, 23, of Greenwich was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of .08% and DWI, both first offenses and class U misdemeanors. He was issued an appearance ticket.

6:02 p.m. Kayla C. Fischer Nesbitt, 32, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of greater than .08% and DWI, both first offenses and class U misdemeanors. She was issued an appearance ticket.

Nov. 2

11 a.m. Marcus A. Opulski, 21, of Hebron, was arrested in connection with an incident of making graffiti, a class A misdemeanor, that was reported on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. He was issued an appearance ticket.

Nov. 3

9:05 a.m. Tyler J. Kamburelis, 25, of Hebron was arrested in Malta for criminal contempt in the second degree, specifically disobeying a court order of protection, a class A misdemeanor. He was issued an appearance ticket.

7:18 p.m. Jennifer L. Cook, 50, of Hudson Falls was arrested on four counts of petit larceny, class A misdemeanors that occurred in Queensbury on Oct. 29. She was issued an appearance ticket.

12:40 p.m. James T. Erhardt, 37, of Jackson was arrested in Greenwich for an incident of grand larceny in the fourth degree that occurred on July 3 of property valued at greater than $1,000, a class E felony. He was issued an appearance ticket.

5:03 p.m. Gary W. Doner, 52, of Schenectady was arrested in Argyle for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs in the first degree, a class U misdemeanor. He was issued an appearance ticket.

11:56 p.m. Christine L. Soucie, 45, of Bennington, Vermont, was arrested in Easton on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor. She was issued an appearance ticket.

Nov. 6

5:43 p.m. Zachary R .Mulholland, 32, of Hudson Falls was arrested in Lake George for DWI, first offense, and aggravated DWI per se, no prior, both class U misdemeanors. He was issued an appearance ticket.

Nov. 7

2:17 a.m. Robert D. Carota, 56, of Argyle was arrested in Queensbury for obstruction of governmental administration, specifically obstruction of criminal justice, in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor. He was being held.

Vermont State Police

Oct. 19

10:18 a.m. Vermont State Police were notified of a burglary that occurred on Smith Street in the Town of West Rutland. Through investigation it was determined that an unknown person or persons had entered the residence of Alexander, 30, and Tiana Maranville, 29, and stolen various items. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Trooper Charles Gardner at 802-773-9101.

Oct. 26

10:22 p.m. Vermont State Police were dispatched to a family fight that occurred at Oxbow Road in Pittsford. Troopers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim, who stated that he/she was assaulted by a household/family member. The accused was identified as Stephan Weber, 32, of Pittsford. Investigation revealed that Weber was driving while his privilege to operate a motor vehicle in the State of Vermont was criminally suspended. While speaking with Weber, troopers observed Weber showed signs of impairment and subsequently screened him for DUI. Weber was taken into custody and transported to the Rutland State Police Barracks for processing.

Oct. 30

1:19 a.m. Vermont State Police observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on South Main Street in Rutland City. Troopers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 7 South and Randbury Road in Rutland Town. Troopers screened the operator of the vehicle, Brandon Johnson, 24, of Rutland, after observing signs of impairment. Johnson was subsequently taken into custody for DUI and transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland for processing. After processing, Johnson was released on a citation to appear at the Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division, at a later date.

4:01 a.m. Vermont State Police responded to an alarm at the Jiffy Mart on Business Route 4 in Rutland Town. Upon arrival, State Police along with Rutland City Police found the building had been broken into via a window, and an undisclosed number of cigarettes had been stolen. State Police learned two subjects smashed a window to gain entry, entered the store, smashed a glass front cabinet to get to the cigarettes and left the store carrying two large black trash bags. Oct. 31

5:30 a.m. Vermont State Police responded to a reported motor vehicle disturbance on Vermont Route 30 in Dorset. Troopers were assisted on scene by officers from Manchester Police Department. Investigation revealed that Brett Novak, 24, displayed indicators of impairment and was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. He was transported to the Manchester Police Department for processing. Novak was processed and issued a citation to appear in court at a later time to answer to the charge of DUI.

8:16 a.m. Vermont State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 7 near Thomas Dairy in the Town of Rutland. Initial investigation revealed that Gregory J. DiPietro, 19, of Pittsford was driving a 2020 Toyota RAV4 traveling southbound on Route 7 at a high rate of speed. DiPietro lost control of his vehicle and exited the east side of the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturn and come to an uncontrolled rest. DiPietro’s RAV4 was towed from the scene. Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by Rutland Town Fire Department.

Nov. 5

10:10 a.m. Vermont State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Main Street at the intersection of Chapel and Marble streets in West Rutland. West Rutland Fire Department and Earle’s Truck Repair responded to the crash. David Allen, 66, of Castleton was traveling westbound on Main Street approaching the intersection of Chapel and Marble streets. He became distracted by an animal on the side of the roadway and subsequently struck the rear end of a Ford truck being driven by Mark Burch, 53, of Rutland. Investigation revealed that Burch’s vehicle was stopped at the intersection. Allen’s truck sustained contact damage to the front of the vehicle, while the trailer hitch installed on Burch’s truck absorbed the impact, preventing it from sustaining any damage. No injuries were reported.

Nov. 6

12:38 a.m. Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Jackson Avenue in the City of Rutland for an observed motor vehicle violation. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Monica Wiskoski, 53, of West Rutland. During the stop, Wiskoski displayed several indicators of impairment. She was screened for impairment before being taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. Wiskoski subsequently was transported to the State Police barracks in Rutland for processing before being released on citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division, at a later date.

Nov. 7

12:39 a.m. Vermont State Police observed a motor vehicle traveling 98 miles per hour on U.S. Route 4 in the Town of West Rutland and initiated a motor vehicle stop and identified the operator as Kassandra Boardman, 21, of Rutland. Boardman displayed several indicators of impairment. She was screened for impairment and subsequently taken custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. Boardman was transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland for processing and later released on citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division, at a later date.

2:21 a.m. Vermont State Police were notified of a single-vehicle rollover crash on Blissville Road near Saltis Road in the Town of Poultney. Through investigation it was determined that Benjamin Kainen, 27, of Poultney was driving south on Blissville Road. He told police that he looked away from the roadway briefly and struck a tree off the east shoulder of the roadway before rolling his 2003 Nissan Xterra onto its passenger side. Kainen’s SUV was totaled, while he sustained no injuries.
