Granville Village Mayor Paul Labas tested positive for Covid-19 on Nov. 4.

NYVT Media received a text update on Nov. 7 from Labas on his symptoms and his health.

“Currently still feeling very weak after three days of diagnosis and am running about a 100-degree temperature,” Labas said. “Wheezy breathing and congested sinuses. I went to get a PCR test when I first was feeling the classic symptoms and it came back positive.”

Labas said he is fully vaccinated against the virus and was scheduled for his booster shot on Nov. 9.

“My message to the public is that we all are vulnerable to this pandemic and we can’t ignore it. I feel it will be around for a long time and continue to mutate and spread. We all must be aware and take precautions to avoid getting it,” Labas said.

“I hear the pros and cons of getting vaccinated every single day, I do know it’s everybody’s choice. My choice was to get vaccinated and I am glad that I did it.  With the upcoming holiday seasons upon us, I encourage everybody to at least wear masks at large gatherings and be aware that this invisible disease is constantly on the hunt for you, so be proactive and fight back with healthy practices of wearing masks, social distancing, thoroughly washing hands and last but not least, please reconsider getting vaccinated if you haven’t done it already. Remember you still can be a carrier even if you don’t have symptoms.”

Labas also wanted to thank everyone who reached out to him with help and support during his battle with the virus.
