Granville, New York – Edward Roszak, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 following a long illness.
Born in Greenport, New York, on June 5, 1937, Edward was a fighter from the very beginning. Born almost three months premature, Ed was always a religious, quiet person – understanding his life was a precious gift from his heavenly father. He had two siblings, a brother and a sister, who predeceased him.
Edward graduated from Wilmington High School in Delaware in 1955 and moved to Granville in 1990.
He loved attending all Granville sporting events and cheering on his beloved Golden Horde.
Edward was an active parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Granville and remarked many times how he loved his adopted hometown and the wonderful people who befriended him.
For many years, Edward delivered Meals on Wheels daily to his fellow residents at Mountain View Commons in Granville, remarking that the many interactions he had with his fellow residents were always a good occasion for him.
He was often seen walking everywhere in Granville. He loved his treks to Dunkin’ Donuts, Subway and any sporting venue at the high school.
Edward is survived by his niece Ellen Fister of Rising Sun, Maryland, a nephew Ray Roszak of Clayton, Delaware, and his second cousins Al Kapusinski, George Kapusinski and Frank Kapusinski of Huletts Landing, New York.
Edward will be buried in Pennsylvania. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Granville Golden Horde Booster Club.
