Two Railroaders tennis all-stars

Tennis coaches have named the Adirondack League all-stars for the 2021 season and two Whitehall Railroaders were selected to the team.

Cole Schilling of Argyle was named the Adirondack League Most Valuable Player. Schilling won the league singles tournament title.

Troy Austin and Tristan Foote were both named to the second team representing Whitehall.

Connor Moulton and Isaiah Smead of Section II Class C-D champion Hadley-Luzerne were also selected to the first team.

Other first team all-stars are North Warren’s Dante Buttino and Jack Jennings and Warrensburg’s A.J. Moore.

Along with Austin and Foote, other members of the second team include Brian Dee of Lake George, Ian Gillman of Lake George, Connor Hayes of Hadley-Luzerne and Dylan Smead of Hadley-Luzerne.

Earning Honorable Mention were Carson Bruening of Lake George, Gabe Freebern of Johnsburg, Katrin Schreiner of Hadley-Luzerne and Joe Nissen of Warrensburg.


Horde, Railroaders softball all-stars

The softball coaches of the Adirondack League have selected their 2021 all-star team, and Whitehall and Granville were both rewarded for their solid seasons. Whitehall received two first-team selections and one second team selection. Granville earned a pair of first-team all-stars.

Lake George standout catcher Tyler Bergman was named the Adirondack League Most Valuable Player. Bergman, a senior, will play Division I softball for the University of Missouri next year.

Whitehall was represented on the first team by standout sophomore pitcher Madison Gould. Gould was unbeaten in the circle during the regular season and was also one of the Railroaders’ leading hitters. Senior third baseman Kyrie Smith was also named to the first team from Whitehall. Smith had an outstanding season at the plate, batting out of the two-spot.

Senior shortstop Lexyss Zovistoski was named to the first team for Granville. Zovistoski was one of the top hitters this season for the Golden Horde and solidified the team’s infield defense. Freshman Lauren Bascom also was selected to the first team for Granville. Bascom was the winning pitcher for all the Golden Horde’s victories this season. Bascom helped turn the fortunes of Granville around after a winless 2019 season.

Other first team all-stars include Madeline Gorey and Olivia Gates of Lake George, Sarah McCauliffe of Salem, Nayana DeAmelia and Sara Langworthy of Warrensburg.

Junior Brooke Benjamin of Whitehall was named to the second team. Benjamin spent time behind the plate and in the outfield for the Railroaders.

The remainder of the second team is Ali Zilm, Shannon Starratt and Rachel Jaeger of Lake George, Blake Riche of Salem, Kara Bacon and Kailey Bacon of Warrensburg, Kaitlyn Lindsey of Argyle, Elizabeth Jensen of Corinth.


Whitehall, Horde post baseball all-stars

Two members of the Granville team who finished atop the league in the regular season were honored and Whitehall placed three players on the team as the coaches named the Adirondack League Baseball All-Stars.

Brendan Lamby of Lake George was named the Adirondack League Most Valuable Player. Lamby pitched and played outfield for the Warriors. His hitting and speed on the bases helped lead the Warriors to the league title and the Section II Class final.

Granville was represented on the first team by senior Josh Nelson. Nelson had a stellar season for the Golden Horde at the plate and on the bump.

Brandon Bakerian and Tyler Fish were named to the first team from Whitehall. Both played instrumental roles in the Railroaders’ offense and were key parts of the Whitehall pitching rotation.

Bryce Tyler of Hartford/Fort Edward was also named to the first team.

Other first team honorees are Adam Winchell and Ty Loso of Fort Ann, Argyle’s Tyler Humiston, and Salem’s Blake Baylor.

Josh Oakman of Granville and Matthew Gould of Whitehall were both named to the second team.

Other members of the second team include Torin Davies of Lake George, Jack Dornan of Fort Ann, Peyton Ottens of Hartford-Fort Edward, Dan Lohret of Argyle, Tanner Dunkley of North Warren, David White of Corinth, Nick Sorbera of Corinth.
