Salem, New York – On Monday, April 19, 2021, surrounded by family, Robert J. Fiske Sr., 77, left this world unexpectedly. He was born in Granville, New York, on March 3, 1944, the son of Hiram and Jennie (Allen) Fiske.
Robert was a man who prioritized his family, which grew into generations. Proud father of two, grandfather of five, followed by five great-grandchildren. He loved to make memories with his family through camping and made breakfast for anyone who stopped by. Robert earned his nickname Schemer through his constant tricks and fun-spirited plots that his wife Thelma knew all too well. He kept a pristine lawn decorated by spring flowers and Christmas trees, enjoyed by dogs and family, cared for by a tractor kept immaculate.
Robert was predeceased by his siblings Hiram, Oliver, Gordon, Addie, Marion, Winona and Gertrude.
Robert is survived by his dear wife Thelma Potter Fiske; children Robert Fiske, Jr. and Peggy (Daniel) Grover; and siblings Charles (Janice) Fiske, Iona Wood, Celestia Wheeler, Lillian Baker, Carolyn (Arthur) Sherwood and Theresa (Bernie) Dugan.
A memorial service will be at held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, at the Salem United Methodist Church, 29 W. Broadway, Salem, with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service. Face coverings are required, and social distancing is to be observed.
