The Granville Central School District is considering the possibility of tacking on a two-week break after the holiday vacation that lasts Dec. 24 to Jan. 1.
The rationale behind this is that the board anticipates families to be traveling across the state and country to reconnect with loved ones for the holiday season, especially with being separated by COVID-19.
A vote will occur at the next Board of Education meeting on Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.
Unanimously, the board voted to not place the two-week break after the Thanksgiving recess which is Nov. 25 to Nov. 27.
“The opinion of the (board) is that the risk does not outweigh the impact on the instructional program and families (childcare) at this time,” said school superintendent Tom McGurl.
