We invite you to get to know a little more about the employees of NYVT Media each month through an informal Q&A. This month we begin at the top with our president/publisher Mark Vinciguerra.
What’s your job title? President/publisher of Capital Region Independent Media.
What does a typical work day look like for you? There really is no such thing as a typical day in my world right now. I may be visiting a media company in Granville or Ravena, or I may be visiting a key supporter/advertiser. I could be working with a sales rep, or the ad director or general manager on sales/strategy. That is what I love about my job – the variety of experience!
Who inspires you? Overall – hardworking, creative and inspired people who have the best interests of others at heart.
How would your friends describe you? Depends on which one you ask. I would hope they would say I was loyal, passionate, creative. And all would say I’m a nut about the New York Jets!
What motivates you in work and in life? Seeing others succeed. Creating new opportunities, and moving an organization into areas where it hasn’t been previously.
What three items would you take with you on a desert island? My wife and two kids.
Which historical figure would you most like to meet? As a history buff, too many to list. I know that’s a cop-out, but I can’t narrow the field. As a person of faith, Jesus Christ.
What’s the best place you’ve traveled to? Probably Cuba, prior to when it was “okay” to do so.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? Two of them really: “Everything in moderation” and “This too shall pass,” both from my late mother.
Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies? I was dubbed “the king of useless trivia” by a relative once. I also was a semi-pro racquetball player at one time.
