Poultney townwide yard sale this weekend

Get rid of the old and find something new at the Poultney spring townwide yard sale this Saturday, June 1.

Mary Lee Harris, president of the Poultney Area Chamber of Commerce, said she already has 68 spaces filled, with vendors coming from as far as New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

“There will be everything from food vendors to crafts to antiques to regular yard sales,” Harris said. The main event will take place with the booths lining Main Street, but houses all over town will hold garage sales as well.

Harris said some returning vendors reserved their slots well ahead of time, so they could make sure to get their regular spot, which people look for. She also said community members look forward to the event, and there is usually a good turnout of browsers and shoppers. She thinks the sale is so popular because there is such a wide offering of goods.

“People come from all over the area communities to buy. There is quite a variety of things you can buy; if you want it, it’s probably here,” she said.

As far as food, there will be hot dogs, hamburgers, fried dough, sausage and onions and more for sale. Harris also expects the Rotary Club to hold a chicken barbeque.

Set up for the day is at 7 a.m., and the sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Interested vendors can contact Harris by Thursday, May 30 at 802-287-4114.
