Rebecca Lavin, a senior at Whitehall High School and winner of last fall’s local Distinguished Young Women program, recently competed at the state program in Albany.

Eight young women from around the state participated in the program, which was held Feb. 23 in Albany, the first time it’s been held in the state’s capital.

The eight young women were evaluated by a panel of five judges in the following categories: Scholastics, Interview, Fitness, Self-Expression and Talent.

Brittany Rose Egnot from Albany was named the overall winner.

DYW of New York is currently taking applications for the 2014 state program.  Any High School Junior girl can apply.  Please visit the national website: distinguishedyw.org to apply today.
