GSWT BEckwith Obit 1GSWT Beckwith,_Lillian-2Lillian M. Beckwith, 95, of Beckwith Road, passed away at her home on Wednesday, February 6, 2013.

She was born on January 26, 1918 in Granville, the daughter of the late Frank and Aura (Tillison) DeKalb.
Trained in Peabody, Massachusetts, she received her degree in licensed practical nursing in 1940.  She was a nurse during WWII.  She started working at Moses-Ludington Hospital in Ticonderoga and then finished her career after 20 years as a night nurse in the cardiac unit of the Glens Falls Hospital.
Her family was very dear to her.  She was a compassionate mother and grandmother and was loved and respected by her family, friends and co-workers.  Each new member of her extended family was very important to her,
She had a very good memory with dates and events.  She enjoyed entertaining family and friends.
Lillian’s hobbies included history, genealogy, gardening, berry picking and enjoyed a good conversation with others.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Howard Spencer Beckwith, who died in 1973; her sister, Mildred Aldous; her brothers, Gordon DeKalb; her grandson, Jeremy Balch and son-in-law, Martin Wallace.
She is survived by her children, John Beckwith of Granville, Ann Hilder and her husband, William of Whitehall, Jane Wallace of Benson, Vermont, Sally Balch and her husband, Randy of Whitehall, Ray Beckwith of Whitehall and Elaine Beckwith of Whitehall and one sister, Flora Holmes of Hebron, New York; 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 2PM to 5PM, at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall.
 Interment will be in the spring at Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall.
