Poor first quarter sinks boys basketball

Bball ColbyThe Whitehall boys basketball team fell to previously winless Hadley Luzerne 62-55 last Tuesday.

The Eagles picked up their first win of the season by outscoring the Railroaders 18-6 in the first quarter.

Matt Hay led four players in double figures, scoring 17 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, Jesse DeMarsh netted 15, Caliber Bolt had 14 and Josh Hala added 13 points for Hadley Luzerne.

Josh Hoagland scored a game high 18 points for Whitehall, Justin Hoagland added 14 points and Brian McLaughlin chipped in 10 points.

Whitehall matched or outscored Hadley Luzerne in the game’s final three quarters and were within three points with six minutes left in the game, but was unable to overcome a turnover-laden first quarter.

With the loss, Whitehall falls to 2-6 in the league and overall. The team travels to Bolton tomorrow before hosting Salem next Friday.
