Clare Brennan Rion, a lifelong resident of Hudson, N.Y., passed away on Dec. 9, 2012 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, N.Y. after a brief illness. Clare was the daughter of Owen and Loretta Finn Brennan. She was born on Oct. 28, 1924. Upon graduation from St. Mary’s Academy, Hudson, N.Y., Clare worked at the FBI in Washington, D.C., contributing to the war effort. When World War II ended, she returned to Hudson and her true passion – family, hearth, and home. She married Charles Rion on Jan. 3, 1947.
Clare is survived by one daughter, Clare Marie Darling, (Ken) of West Sand Lake, N.Y. and one granddaughter, Ericka Darling, of Hudson, N.Y. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Charles Rion; her sister, Mary Brennan Wilson; and a brother, Edward Brennan. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan.12, 2013 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Hudson, N.Y.
Throughout her life, Claire loved making yearly visits to Granville, N.Y., her second home and favorite cousin Nancy Fish at 47 West Main Street. She was an enthusiast and avid reader of “The Granville Sentinel” newspaper. She was also a raconteur of tales and chronicler of family history. Clare was cherished by her family, her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, across the globe. She will be missed dearly and held close in their hearts forever.
