Cornell Cooperative Extension will host a Farm Disaster Preparation Certificate workshop from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at Farm Family, 344 Route 9 W in Glenmont.
The six hour training program focuses on pre-disaster education and preparedness, covering topics such as: farm equipment safety on the road; barn fire and structure collapse prevention; minimizing storm damage; reducing criminal activity and stored chemical risks; and enhancing livestock handling and bio-security.
Every farm that completes the workshop will receive a dated certificate to provide to their insurer. The certificate may be a condition of eligibility for receiving a more favorable farm insurance policy review or a discount on the farm’s annual insurance premium.
The cost of the workshop is $35 per person and is open to farms of all types and sizes.
Pre-registration is required by Monday, Feb 4. Any farms interested in registering, can call Gale Kohler at 765-3579 or email [email protected]
