Whitehall’s girls basketball team scored a big win over Hartford last Wednesday.
The Railroaders scored 26 points total in the second and third quarters and played tenacious defense in route to a 34-23 win over the Tanagers.
Brittney Putorti scored a game high 10 points for Whitehall and Rebecca Lavin added eight points.
Morgan Wicks’ eight points paced Hartford.
After scoring only four points in the first quarter, Whitehall scored 14 points in the second quarter to open an 18-11 lead at the half. The team scored another 12 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
But the defense was the difference for Whitehall. The Railroaders held Hartford to less than 10 points in all four quarters and allowed only five points in the first and third quarters.
The Railroaders won’t play again until Jan. 4 when they host Argyle.
