In first track meet of the season, Cullen Flynn was unable to record a successful try in the men’s pole vault. On Saturday, he finished fifth and earned his team two points.
Flynn was one of several Whitehall athletes who showed improvement in the second indoor track meet of the season.
Flynn cleared 6.5 feet in Saturday’s event, good enough for fifth place and 2.5 feet behind winner Riley Steindl of Greenwich.
Flynn was the only male competitor to place for Whitehall.
David Greenough shaved 1.2 seconds off his time in the men’s 300 meters and added more than two feet onto his triple jump. Sean Hart also displayed improvement, adding more than a foot onto his total in the shot put.
The girls were led by Morgan Winters who finished sixth in the women’s long jump, almost two feet further than her performance a week prior.
She also won the girls freshman 45 meters for the second consecutive week.
Meghan Redmond and Abby Dickinson both improved their distances in the women’s shot put and Haley Wiskoski added almost three feet onto her long jump.
The team will next compete at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, at Hudson Valley Community College.
