Jill Ludwig, one of two robbers who hit a string of banks across the Vermont and New York border last fall, was sentenced on Dec. 7 to just over 3 years in prison.
After robbing five banks between September and November of last year, Ludwig was arrested along with fellow Castleton resident John Maynard. The two started their suspected spree at the Merchant’s Bank in Rutland and then Lake Sunapee Bank in West Rutland.
The following month, they allegedly hit the Main Street branch of TD Bank in Granville twice in the same week. It was hours after their suspected fifth and final robbery of the Citizens Bank in Poultney that the pair was caught.
Ludwig pled guilty to county four, in U.S. Vermont District Court in Rutland, while the other counts against her were dismissed, officials said.
After serving her 37 months, Ludwig will have three years of supervised release. She is also required to pay $21,852.20 in restitution.
