There’s more than just secondhand bargains in Hartford this weekend.
Hartford’s townwide garage sale takes place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11 and 12,
with more than 50 sales expected, but organizer Bonnie Williamson is quick to point out all the other activities going on.
The Tri-County Branch of the Women’s National Farm and Garden Association will present its annual flower show, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Masonic Hall on Main Street.
The Hartford Museum will host an Open House event on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and refreshments will be available.
The Boy Scouts will also be serving hotdogs, hamburgers and drinks next to the Post Office on Main Street throughout the weekend. There will be other food sales as well.
There will be a flea market at Stella Rose Bed and Breakfast on Main Street and a summer clearance sale at As Time Goes By.
The Hartford Museum and Civil War Enlistment Center will hold an open house Saturday during the garage sales. The museum is celebrating 150 years of Co. E of the
123rd Regiment and has several new items on display. Refreshments will be available. For information, please call 632-9151
On Sunday, the Hartford Fish and Game Club will hold a chicken barbecue from 11 a.m. until it is sold out. They will be at the building next to Stewart’s on Route 40.
Maps of the various sale locations will be available at As Time Goes By and Stewart’s.
“It’s basically the same things as in the past, but the number of sales gets bigger every year,” Williamson said. “We never know just how many we’re going to have.”
