Bridge Theater staging jazz quartet performance

Mach's Market Business Spotlight

Martin Kelly wants to introduce jazz to the people of Whitehall and to achieve that goal, is offering discounted tickets to the Bridge Theater’s weekly cabaret at the Whitehall Athletic Club.

Reserved tickets for Matt Maguire’s Jazz Quartet performance at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, will be offered for $12, a reduction of $7 off the normal price.

“This is an introduction of jazz to our audience and we wish to make it available to as many Bridge Theater fans as possible,” Kelly said. “Syncopation and improvisation are everything in playing jazz and the Matt Maguire Jazz Quartet have both qualities in spades.”

The quartet plays a variety of jazz styles that Maguire says “offers something for everyone from hard-core jazz fans to those who like to tap their toes to tunes they remember.”

Maguire has been playing the drums for more than 40 years. As a teenager he was a pit musician for summer theater productions and musicals.

For the past 20 years, Maguire has delved into the world of jazz and the band is well-known throughout the Capital District.

Tickets for the show can be purchased by calling 874-0800. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase.

Paul Stillman, starting in “Benjamin Franklin Walks Among Us,” will follow up Maguire’s performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4.

The cost of that show is $10 and proceeds will benefit local Boy Scout Troop 83. Tickets for that show can be purchased at Putorti’s Market and LaFlammes Home Center located in Whitehall as well as any Boy Scout.
