The Whitehall tennis team swept the doubles matches against Warrensburg in its season opener, held last Monday in Warrensburg.
Lia McKee and Abby Connors dispatched their opponents, 10-5, and Alex Wood and Faith Eaton defeated their opponents by an identical score. Unfortunately for Whitehall, those were the only matches the team won, as they fell to the Burgers 5-2.
Rachel Aubin played well at fourth singles, but fell just short, 12-10. Ryan St. Clair also played a competitive match, falling 10-8 at second singles.
Dominic Gregory fell 10-1 in the first singles, Emilee Wilbur fell 10-0 at the third single, and Ian Rollins lost 10-5 in the final singles match.
Last Wednesday, the Railroaders hosted Greenwich and were shut out by the Witches 7-0.
Greenwich’s second singles and second doubles team won their matches without losing a single game and surrendered only one game in three other matches.
Aubin had the strongest performance for Whitehall, winning five games, but ultimately lost the match 10-5. The doubles team of McKee and Connors won four games in their match.
The tennis team is back in action on Monday, April 16, when they travel to Argyle.
