Tennis team loses pair of matches

The Whitehall tennis team swept the doubles matches against Warrensburg in its season opener, held last Monday in Warrensburg.

Lia McKee and Abby Connors dispatched their opponents, 10-5, and Alex Wood and Faith Eaton defeated their opponents by an identical score. Unfortunately for Whitehall, those were the only matches the team won, as they fell to the Burgers 5-2.

Rachel Aubin played well at fourth singles, but fell just short, 12-10. Ryan St. Clair also played a competitive match, falling 10-8 at second singles.

Dominic Gregory fell 10-1 in the first singles, Emilee Wilbur fell 10-0 at the third single, and Ian Rollins lost 10-5 in the final singles match.

Last Wednesday, the Railroaders hosted Greenwich and were shut out by the Witches 7-0.

Greenwich’s second singles and second doubles team won their matches without losing a single game and surrendered only one game in three other matches.

Aubin had the strongest performance for Whitehall, winning five games, but ultimately lost the match 10-5. The doubles team of McKee and Connors won four games in their match.

The tennis team is back in action on Monday, April 16, when they travel to Argyle.
