Sophia F. Macura, 89

Sophia F. Macura, 89, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1922, in Poultney, Vt., the daughter of Stephen and Mary (Skocylas) Pyenta.
Sophia was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Granville.
Sophia and her husband, Michael Macura, were united in marriage on Jan. 25, 1947. Michael passed away on May 4, 2010.
Besides being a house wife and homemaker, she was employed as a seamstress for J & J Lingerie in Granville for many years.
Sophia enjoyed reading books and listening to audio books. However, her most enjoyable time was spent with her late husband Michael.
Family was what mattered most to Sophia.  After the loss of her husband, her feline partner “Sweetie” was her constant companion.
Besides her parents and her husband, Sophia was predeceased by her six brothers, Stephen, Stanley, Walter, John, Peter, Paul, and Joseph Pyenta, and her two sisters, Julia Bush and Mary Kasprzak.
Survivors include her son, Michael P. Macura and his wife Mary Ann of Granville, her daughter, Mary S. Macura and her companion David Havens of Hebron, her three grandsons, Michael Macura of Glens Falls, Adam and Ethan Macura of Granville.  She also is survived by two sisters, Stella Wierzbicki of Rutland, Vt., Rose Krivicki of Wisconsin and several  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Granville with the Rev. Thomas Zelker and the Rev. Joseph X. Arockiasamy co- officiating.  A Rite of Committal will follow in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middle Granville.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
The family requests that contributions be made in the form of donations in her memory to either the Pember Library, 33 West Main St., Granville, NY 12832, the Slate Valley Museum, 17 Water St., Granville, NY  12832, or the Granville Rescue Squad, East Potter Avenue, Granville, NY 12832.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, N.Y.
