Granville cross country’s Alicia Clark finished the season as one of the best runners in the state Nov. 12, turning in a sixth place finish at the New York State Championships. On a wet and cold course Clark logged a 20:34 for sixth place finishing behind second place Victoria Houser from Greenwich. In the Class C race a total of 127 runners competed from all over the state.

“Clark went out on Friday and stayed over in Utica with all other Section II qualifiers. On Friday it was raining and snowing which made the course really sloppy for Saturday’s race. The course was much slower causing all racers to have slightly lower times than usual,” head coach Lance Jordan said.

Clark has been running really well and was chosen by the Section II committee as one of three individuals to compete at the NYS Federation meet on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY. The Federation Championship consists of two races. One race for all boys and one for all girls in classes A, B, C, and D. Clark will race amongst 300 runners from the top private and public schools in NYS.

Mary Caine of Bronxville took the state title; the national indoor 1,500 meter championship last season and is ranked as one of the top cross country runners in the country.
