Granville finished third in the Saturday ‘Ace for the Cure’ tournament with Adirondack League power Hadley-Luzerne taking home first place.

The real winner was breast cancer research as the second tournament raise over $500. Head Coach Aris Allen said the gate fee for the tournament would be by donation and patrons dug deep. Falling in the title games, Waterford-Halfmoon finished second to the Eagles. Granville topped Warrensburg to round out the field. Hadley-Luzerne’s Chelsea Bourdeau was named most valuable player and was joined on the all tournament team by Hadley-Luzerne’s Ashleigh Bourdeau; Waterford-Halfmoon’s Megan Yattaw, Granville’s Kaylee Pratt and Cheyenne Palmatier of Warrensburg.

Leading into the tournament, Friday Granville faced Schuylerville, falling 3-0. “One of our starting seniors was in a head-on collision just prior to the game so this created some
confusion at first, but Granville stepped up and played their hearts out,” head coach Aris Allen said.

Granville took the Wasaren League loss by scores of 10-25, 21-25 and10-25. For Granville, Emily Campbell had 3 aces and 2 digs; Kaylee Pratt 1 Ace, 3 kills and 3 assists and Brianna Ettori had 1 ace and 4 digs.
Granville was shut out by Wasaren League foe Hoosic Valley Wednesday, Sept. 14 by scores of 25-11, 25-3 and 25-8. Sam Harrison had two aces to lead Granville.
