Joyce Williams, 84

Joyce Williams of Wells, Vt., was born on Dec. 26, 1926, in Schenectady, the daughter of Joseph and Vera (Parkhurst) McClosky. She passed away peacefully at the Bennington (Vt.) Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Feb. 19, 2011.

Joyce loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed going out to eat with her friends and playing cards. She was a longtime member of the “Unknowns Club” in Wells.

She is predeceased by her husband, Wilfred “Bill” Williams, as well as her siblings.

She is survived by a companion, Bob Hamlin, of Granville; her son, Robert “Bob” Williams and his companion, Deb Williams, her daughter, Roberta Cooper and her husband, Howard, all of Wells, Vt. Also surviving are her granddaughters, Rebecca Hulett and her husband, Bruce, of West Pawlet, Vt., and Laurie Brown and her husband, Joshua of Granville; a grandson William Cooper and his companion, Devin Smith, of Granville. Joyce was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Brynn Duquette and Grant Cooper. In addition she is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or funeral at this time. There will be a graveside service in the spring.

The family has suggested that those who wish to remember Joyce may do so with a donation to Alzheimer’s research, in care of the Functional Brain Imaging Research Program, University of Vermont, 85 S Prospect St., Burlington, Vt. 05401 or to the Granville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 153, Granville, N.Y. 12832.
