Horde girls fall to Bengals

Tenacious defense by the visitors eventually wore down the Golden Horde girls basketball team, as Granville fell to the Tamarac Bengals, 58-46, in its Wasaren League home opener.

Emily Fuller led all scorers with 21 points and the Golden Horde stayed close to the Bengals despite a close-quarters defense that forced multiple Granville turnovers. Fuller had three three-pointers in the game.

Granville led early in the game and stayed within a handful of points of the Bengals for most of the night. The Horde allowed the Bengals only two large runs when Tamarac stretched out to a big lead. But the second run late in the fourth quarter put the visitors in front to stay.

Hunter Bassett and Alyssa Scott each added nine points for Granville. Heather Chapman chipped in four points on just two shots and Megan O’Brien scored three points.
