Ardythe I. Shovah, 70

Ardythe I. Shovah passed away peacefully at Indian River Nursing Center on Dec. 13, 2010, after a brief illness.

Born Nov. 9, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Eilene (Doty) Parks.

Ardythe operated her own beauty shop  in the 1950s, She then worked  in the cafeteria of the Whitehall Central  School and she went on to her  favorite employment at Rocque’s Tastee Freeze, where she not only enjoyed her job but loved watching the Rocque’s seven children grow up.

Ardythe married Elmer “Bud” Shovah in 1951, Mr. Shovah died March 4, 1988.

She is survived by a son, Mark Shovah of Whitehall;  her daughters, Laurie Gordon and her husband, Jay, of Avon Park, Fla., and, Kim Shovah of Yukon, Okla. She is also survived by four granddaughters and four great-grandsons, Cassandra Shovah of Whitehall, April (Gordon) Savoie and her husband, Nic, and their son Tyler of Gilman, Conn., Tricia Gordon and her boyfriend, David, of Hampton, Va., and Madrianne (Richardson) Davis and her husband, Antonio, of Atlanta, Ga., and their three sons, Jayden, Chase, and Carter.

At Ardythe’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or public services. Graveside services will be in the spring at convenience of the family at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in West Granville.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation in Ardythe’s name to CR Wood Cancer Center 102 Park St., Glens Falls, N.Y.
