Thelma F. Lipka, 87

Thelma F. Lipka, 87, of County Route 21, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at her home.

 Born on Feb. 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Earl L. Frazier and Lucy (Beckwith) Frazier Sisson.

 She was a graduate of Whitehall Central School. She married Stephen J. Lipka on Feb. 12, 1942. They were married 56 years at the time of his death.

Mrs. Lipka worked as a seamstress for the Kay McDowell Coat Factory, J&J Lingerie, Whiteford Sportswear  and Troy Shirtmakers Guild.  She was a member of Whitehall Grange No. 922, Rural Charity Club and the Whitehall United Methodist Church.

 In addition to her husband and parents, she was pre-deceased by her stepfather, Roland Sisson, and her sister, Gladys Villmore.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Malcolm Douglas of Whitehall; her grandsons, Stephen C. Douglas and Matthew J. Douglas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the Jillson Funeral Home Inc., 46 Williams St., Whitehall, by the Rev. Roberta Proper. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Fair Haven, Vt., at the convenience of the family. Calling hours were held at the funeral home Monday. 

Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Jim Beckwith and Jean Kay Douglas for their many acts of kindness shown to Thelma.
