Information is slowly beginning to trickle out of the seeding meetings from yesterday and today…

Wrestling

What we have so far is ONLY

Karl Palmer – 1st seed –

ranked for Granville at the Civic Center. I thought others might edge is especially Walter Foster, but I guess when you throw in the wrestlers from down south there’s no room for the other quality wrestlers from this neck of the woods.

That could make Foster dangerous coming out of the pack, hope so. The Horde have a few chances to get guys to Albany with Palmer the best shot – strange things can happen though so other Horde grapplers might surpise higher seeds.

Girls Basketball

Granville ended up seeded number 15 out of 16 and heading to face number two seed Fonda Fultonville;

two teams play in, to face number one Watervliet.

‘Vliet somehow got placed first despite Granville’s upcoming opponent (FF) having a single loss and a 19-1 overall record (their only loss came in late Dec.) and 15-0 in their league – not sure why this is.

Vliet is not ranked while Fonda is 15th in the state. I don’t claim to know a lot about basketball period, but that seems odd to me.

Anyone?

Sure seems like something got mixed up there, maybe ducking  the Black Horses who face Cobleskill-Richmond for the right to face Vliet. Curious, truly curious. But I could see not wanting to go up against the #44, she was a very physical presence in the second half against Granville in that heartbreaker Feb. 13.

Boys basketball

Granville earned a 4 seed in the tournament and will face 13-seed Spa Catholic here in Granville.

The Saints were 7-7 this year in thier league and 9-11 overall in the Western Athletic Conference. Don’t know much about their b-ball team, but if any of their baseball athletes are on this team, they could be tough. time will tell.

This game will be at home Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. AND everyone will be back in uniform.

Notables: Tamarac is the 2, Hudson Falls 3 and Fonda the 1.
