Toys train coming

The 2008 version of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program will arrive at the Whitehall Amtrak Station this Sunday December 7, 2008 at 11:00 AM.

Santa and his huge bag of toys, escorted by the United States Marine Corps, including Lt. General Osmand, will arrive by a special D&H Passenger train direct from the North Pole.

All are encouraged to be present to welcome the train to show their support for this program.  Lt General Osmand is the Commandant of the National Toys for Tots Program and is coming to this part of New York as we are fortunate to have our own D&H supplied train to add to this already successful program.

When the train departs at 11:30 AM, those registered for the program will receive their gifts at the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company.  The program is supported locally by the American Legion, the Elks and the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Company.  Jim Lafayette is the local chairman while USMC Iwo Jima Veteran, Bob LaFrance, will be the official greeter of Lt General Osman.

The program is made possible by donations.  New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at the American Legion, the Elks or at the Dollar General Store.  Boxes will be picked up on Saturday night in preparation for this event.
