Grace (Edwards) Longtin, 78, of Queen Street, Whitehall, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness.
Born on July 22, 1928 in Rutland, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Arthur L. and Olive (Denton) Edwards.
Grace was employed by Champlain Spinners in Whitehall in the early years and retired from E. B. Metal Products in Whitehall.
She enjoyed camping and traveling to the ocean.
Besides her parents, Grace is predeceased by her husband, William J. Longtin, who died on March 5, 1999; three brothers, John, George and Albert and one sister, Clara Wright.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Longtin of Ballston Spa and Marion Downey and her husband, Michael, of Orwell, Vt.; two sons, William A. Longtin and his wife, Carol of Whitehall and Larry Longtin and his wife, Theresa of Fair Haven, Vt.; one granddaughter, Deborah O’Rourke and her husband, Dr. Daniel O’Rourke, of Hanover, N.H., and Thomas Welch of Whitehall who were lovingly raised by their grandparents and other grandchildren, Kellie Longtin, Chelsea Longtin, James Longtin, Bruce Longtin, Monica Longtin, Michael Downey and Douglas Knight, four great grandchildren and three sisters, Maisie Gebo, Theresa Kasuba and Dorothy LaRose, all of Whitehall.
A funeral service was conducted on Monday, April 23, at 10 a.m. at the Whitehall United Methodist Church with Rev. C. Don Wheeler, pastor, officiating.
Family and friends called at the Jillson Funeral Home, Inc., 46 Williams Street, Whitehall, on Sunday, April 22, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Interment followed the funeral service in Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff in the Tower on the 6th floor, Glens Falls Hospital, and also the staff of the Glens Falls Renal Center.
